On this date one year ago I was in Wolfsburg, Germany for an AFS orientation where I met people from all over the world who were- just like me- starting out on the adventure of a lifetime. I was between my first and second family, had just spent a month in the heart of Celle with an amazing welcome family, and nervous to meet the next one I would be living with. I remember how full of hope I was, how new everything felt, how it still all felt so unreal. And now thats not only all gone, but its a whole year behind me. Its unreal how the time flew. I can’t believe that that entire chapter of my life is gone, but it really isn’t when I think about it, all the things that I learned and the person that it shaped me into will always be with me, and for that I am grateful. Oh how the past seems to sit funny at the dinner table of our minds.
